I hope you all had a wonderful Fall Break! I got to spend a lot of time with my family so I really enjoyed my Thanksgiving. The kids today were very sweet and so excited to see their friends again after being apart. I just love them! I am very excited this week as we will be starting our special cross-curricular study on The Nutcracker. It is always a hit with the kids and one of my favorite units all year.
This week in ELA we are learning how to figure out unfamiliar words, working with capitalization, and continuing to work on reading and writing opinion pieces. In Math we are working with place value and reading and writing 3-digit numbers. In Science we are learning about changing habitats. In Social Studies we are learning about changes in communities. In Health we are learning about helmet safety. Spelling List

Writing Prompt
This week we are continuing our writing unit on Opinion Writing. Opinion Writing is when writers tell their feelings about a topic and give reasons to support their opinion. Opinion Writing has a beginning that introduces the topic and opinion, a middle that gives reasons, and an end that makes the opinion clear. Please have you child write an opinion paragraph about what they think is the best food and why. It should be at least 5 sentences in their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you!
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much!
Have a great week!
Miss Jenny
