I hope you all had a wonderful Fall Break! The kids all seemed so happy and excited to be together again which always makes me smile :) Also, thank you to all who helped make the Fall Feast such a wonderful event!
Just a friendly reminder that all students should come to school dressed for the weather. When there is snow, this means that students should have snow pants, a snow jacket/coat, gloves, and perhaps even a hat. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain or very wet snow. A snowy or cold day does NOT keep us inside. Thank you!
The Spelling Bee ladies will be coming to test the 2nd graders this coming Wednesday from 1:30- 2. If your child is interested in participating, please have them practice with that date in mind. Thanks!
This week in ELA we are learning about author's purpose, synonyms, and antonyms. In Math we are learning how to add 3-digit numbers. In Science we are learning about oceans and ponds. In Social Studies we are learning about North America. In Health we are learning how to keep ourselves safe. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Those Shoes. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are also continuing to work on our 2nd Project Based Learning Activity entitled Design a Ski Resort!

Writing Assignment
Pretend you wake up one morning and you and your best friend have switched bodies. What happens next? Please write at 6 or more sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
Jenny
