I hope you all had a great Halloween! Jim and I had hundreds (I'm not kidding!) of trick or treaters come by our house in Grass Valley. It was lots of fun! The kids here are all super excited to see snow on the ground. As a reminder, please be sure your child brings snow pants, a jacket, and gloves on snowy days, the kids DO play outside! Tomorrow Tahoe Safe Alliance will be visiting our class to talk about "Hands are Not for Hitting" at 2pm. Please let me know ASAP if you do not want your child to attend this talk. Thanks! Remember....no school next Wednesday the 11th!
This week in ELA we are learning how to find the central message in a text, writing narratives about Helen Keller, and working on complete sentences. In Math we are working with double digit addition and subtraction. In Science we are learning about habitats. In Social Studies we are learning about Explorers. In Health we are learning about how pollution can affect our health.

Writing Prompt
This week we are finishing up our writing unit on Narrative Writing. A narrative tells a made-up or real story. The characters can be people or plants, animals, and objects that act like people. Narrative writing has a beginning that introduces the characters and setting, a middle that shows how the characters think, feel, and act, and an end that finishes the story and makes sense. Please have you child write a narrative about an adventure they had with their best friend. It should be at least 5 sentences in their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you!
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much!
Have a great week!
Miss Jenny
