Hello Creekside Families,
The Scripps National Creekside Classroom Spelling Bee is here, thanks to Michelle Miller for volunteering to proctor. The 2nd grade Spelling Bee will be this Thursday from 1:50- 2:30 in our classroom. Our next LP conference will be next Tuesday, 1/20 at 8:15, there is no school on Monday. LP conferences are mandatory, please email me if you are unable to attend and need to reschedule for later in the week. Thank you. This week in ELA we are working with comparative endings (-er,-est), verbs (am, is, are, was, were), synonyms, and biographies. In Math we are working with subtraction within 100 and word problems. In Science we are learning about Space and what everything is made of. In Social Studies we are learning about Native Americans and who provides services in a community. In Heath we are learning how to prevent accidents. Spelling List busier busiest fatter fattest happier happiest hotter hottest smaller smallest sooner soonest Writing Prompt The theme of Unit 3 is “What does it mean to be creative?”. The question of the week is “Where do creative ideas come from?”. In A Weed is a Flower, we learn about the life of George Washington Carver, a creative inventor. Please help your child think about where we get our creative ideas. Now have them write a short biography about someone who had a creative idea. Please have your child write 4-6 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you. In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much! Have a great week! Miss Jenny |
