Now that fall is finally here, please remember to check the weather forecast daily and send in a coat every day, just in case! Also, just a gentle reminder as Halloween approaches, those little snack size candies are awfully tempting to send to school in a lunch box! Please try to refrain from sending candy to school, even if the sugar doesn't affect your child, their friends go wild with envy! One last reminder, please send in a water bottle for your child to have in class. Thanks!
This Wednesday (Oct. 30th), we will be making Stone Soup in class! If you can, please send in an item for our pot by next Tuesday afternoon. Ex- a potato, a can of veggie or chicken broth, an onion, a can of corn, some celery, peas, beans, carrots, etc…Thank you!
This Thursday (Oct. 31st) is Halloween! There will be a school wide Halloween parade at 8:40 if you would like to stay after drop off. It's always very cute! Please remember that there are no masks or weapons (even toy weapons) allowed on campus. We will have our Halloween party after lunch, if you are able, please send in a healthy snack to share. Victoria has a cute Halloween craft for the kids to do as we watch It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Finally, Ms. Monica and all the Creekside kids have been working on the Day of the Dead event. You are welcome to arrive before the end of the school day and tour this amazing event. 2nd grade will be touring the event from 2:15- 2:25 before our whole school appreciation circle at 2:35. You are welcome to tour the event anytime from 1:45 through the end of the school day.
This week in ELA we are working on writing "soup-er" sentences and figuring out how the characters in our story feel. In Math we are working on understanding 3-digit numbers. In Science we are learning how habitats change. In Social Studies we are learning about map skills (absolute and relative locations in the United States). In Health we are learning about basic first aid procedures. Our SEL activities include working on "I can statements" to help us express our feelings to our peers in a time of conflict and daily check ins.

STONE SOUP ACTIVITY!!!

In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
