Hello Creekside Families,
Just a reminder that we will have minimum days for Fall conferences all this week. Students should be picked up by 12:15. Thank you all for taking the time to come in and talk with me about your wonderful children! This week in ELA we are working with adjectives and adverbs, spelling (see below), and reading and writing narratives. In Math we are reviewing Unit 1 and working on word problems. In Science we are learning about what living things need to stay alive. In Social Studies we are learning about history and time. In Health we are investigating our sensory responses to food. Spelling List (spell words with the consonant digraph th) (recognize the short u sounds in was and of, recognize the vowel sound in a) the that them day may made was of if a bath math Writing Prompt This week we are beginning our writing unit on Narrative Writing. A narrative tells a made-up or real story. The characters can be people or plants, animals, and objects that act like people. Narrative writing has a beginning that introduces the characters and setting, a middle that shows how the characters think, feel, and act, and an end that finishes the story and makes sense. Please have you child write a narrative with animal characters. It should be at least 5 sentences in their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you! In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much! Have a great week! Miss Jenny Hello Creekside Families,
Thank you to all of you who helped make the walk-a-thon a success! The kids had a great time and our class raised over $700 for the PTO! How awesome! Please look for a letter from Tahoe Safe Alliance in your child's backpack today. They will be coming to our class on November 3rd to talk about "Hands are Not for Hitting." If you do NOT wish for your child to participate, please sign and return the letter to me before November 3rd. Thank you! This week will be very busy for us! Tomorrow morning we will have a fire drill and a presentation by the fire chief. Wednesday, the Humane Society will be visiting the 1st and 2nd graders to talk about "What do pets need?" and "The costs of a pet". Thursday, we will participate in the state wide "Great Shake Out" which is an earthquake drill and an earthquake safety video. ***IMPORTANT*** Next week (10/19- 10/22) will be our fall conferences and school will be out at 12:15 every day.
