Wow! The weather is crazy again today! It's a good reminder to start checking the weather forecast daily and sending in a coat every day, just in case! Also, just a gentle reminder as Halloween approaches, those little snack size candies are awfully tempting to send to school in a lunch box! Please try to refrain from sending candy to school, even if the sugar doesn't affect your child, their friends go wild with envy! One last reminder, please send in a water bottle for your child to have in class. Thanks!
This week in ELA we are working on problems/solutions, text to self connections, and retelling a story. In Math we are working on 2-step word problems. In Science we are learning how animals grow and change. In Social Studies we are learning about explorers. In Health we are working on a tasty sensations. Our SEL activities include working on cooperation skills in order to work on our monthly SEL goal of self management.

Writing Assignment
This week’s writing prompt is: “What would life be like if you could fly? Tell me about it… How would it feel? Where would you go? etc…”. Please have your child write 4-6 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
(CCSS Writing 3- Write narratives in which they recount a well elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.)
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
