Hello Creekside Families,
I can't believe that our Winter Break starts at the end of next week! Time flies when you're having fun! :) Please remember that next Thursday, December 21st is a school day. If you will be leaving for the Winter Break early, please send in an IS form ASAP so that I have time to prepare quality IS for your student. You can download IS forms on our class website at https://jennysclass.weebly.com/is-request.html. Also, if your child will be leaving school for skiing this winter, please be sure to send in the form if you haven't done so already. I emailed the forms out again this morning. Thank you. This week in ELA we are learning about rhythm and meaning in poems and songs, identifying main ideas in a text, and contractions. In Math we are adding several 2-digit numbers. In Science we are learning about water. In Social Studies we are learning about the Earth. In Health we are learning about why we need to use headgear for safety. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Night Tree. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are still working on our 2nd Project Based Learning Activity entitled Design a Ski Resort! We are also continuing our unit study on The Nutcracker and our country for Holidays Around the World is Germany as it ties in so nicely with The Nutcracker story. Spelling List (long i: i, igh, y) find child sky bright wild fly right flight spider cry blind myself (Spelling tests are given on the following Monday.) Writing Assignment Use your imagination and sense of humor! The writing prompt this week is: Write about the time it snowed chocolate chips and sprinkles. Your story needs a beginning, middle, and end and you should use sequencing words (first, next, last,etc….). Please write at least 6 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you. iReady Practice Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you! In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks! Have a great week! Jenny Hello Creekside Families, If your child will be participating in a ski program during school hours this year, we need a signed Skiing Early Release Waiver on file in the office. Please let me know what your child's ski schedule will be this year (ex-leaving at 12:15 on M,W) and send in the attached form. Please see Jeff's note below... Thank you! Jenny __________________________________________________________________ Students in 4th-8th grade can sign themselves out as long as we have this waiver on file. Students in TK-3rd grade have to have an adult sign them off of campus. All students must have a waiver on file to leave for skiing IS! Thank you, Jeff
