Just a reminder that all students should come to school prepared to play in the snow at recess. All students should have snow boots, snow pants, a jacket/coat, gloves, hat, and sunglasses. If your student needs sunscreen, please apply that at home before coming to school. Thank you!
This week the 2nd grade will be continue to collect up-opened, unexpired bags or cans of pet food for the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. They could also use some new collars for the dogs, if anyone wants to get some. If you would like to make a donation, please send it in with your student. I will collect the items in my room and drop them off.
This week in ELA we working on writing informational text, author's purpose, and when to use capitals. In Math we are learning to read and make bar and picture graphs. In Science we are learning about day and night. In Social Studies we are learning about consequences. In Health we are learning about medicines. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Looking at Lincoln. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this all week long. We are also working on our Town Builder Social Studies activities.

Writing Assignment
Research a president of your choice and tell us something about him. You can include something about where he was born, the time he lived in, interesting facts about him, and something important that he did. Don’t forget to tell us why you chose to research this president! Please write at least 6 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.

In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
