Hello Creekside Families,
Just a friendly reminder that our next learning conference will be at 8:15 am on Monday, November 17th. Learning conferences are mandatory. If you are unable to make the meeting, please email me so we can meet at another time that week to catch up and sign the paperwork. Thank you! This week in ELA we are working with plurals (including plural vowels that change spelling), sequencing, classifying and categorizing, and fairy tales. In Math we are working on fluency with addition (within 100) and adding 3 or 4 2-digit addends. In Health we are talking about how pollution impacts our health. In Science we are continuing to explore why plants and animals live in some places and not others. In Social Studies we are continuing to learn about Geography. This week we will also wrap up our Marigold lab in Science and our Birch Tree paintings in Art. Spelling List babies baby lunch lunches note notes stories story switch switches tune tunes Writing Prompt The theme of Unit 2 is “How can we work together?”. The question of the week is “Why is it a good idea to work together?”. The Bremen Town Musicians is a fairy tale about animals that sing together to solve a problem. Please help your child think about another fairy tale when the characters work together. Now have them write their own fairy tale about characters that work together. Please have your child write 3-5 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you. CCSS Writing 3- Write narratives in which they recount a well elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure. (This is not a separate assignment, it is a description of the standard the above writing prompt meets.) In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much! Have a great week! Miss Jenny |
