Hello Creekside Families,
Please mark your calendars for our next learning period conference. Our LP8 meeting will be next Monday, April 27th at 8:15 am. We will be signing learning calendars and field trip permission slips. Our field trip will be on Thursday, May 14th. We will be going to the Andelin Family Farm in Sparks. We will be leaving school at 8:45 am and returning at 2:!5 pm. DRIVERS AND CHAPERONES ARE NEEDED! Please email me if you are able to help us out. Monday, April 27th is also a minimum day, students should be picked up at 12:15. Please be sure to read the weekly Creekside Chat for up to date information on our school and the Souper Bowl. Thank you! This week in ELA we are learning contractions, words with the vowel sound as in fall (aw, au, augh, al), author's purpose, and narratives. In Math we are working with lengths and word problems. In Science we are talking about matter. In Social Studies we are learning about our rights and responsibilities as citizens. In Health we are learning how to think about how others are feeling. This week will we also be learning about Monet and his Water Lilies series. Each student will be making his or her own Water Lilies painting. The question of the week is “How can we be responsible when we make a mistake?”. The SIgnmaker’s Assistant is a funny story. Please help your child think about funny stories they have heard or read. Now have them write a story that will make people laugh. Please have your child write 6-8 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you. CCSS Writing 3- Write narrative in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure. In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful spring break! The kids were all so happy to see one another again today, it was really sweet. Please be sure to read the Creekside Chat every week to stay up to date on the Souper Bowl and other school news. Also, please be sure to send a water bottle to school every day with your child. At least 10 students didn't have a water bottle with them today! Thanks! Donations needed! Our classroom could use kleenex, pencils, and wipes. Please send some in with your child if you have any to spare. Thank you! This week in ELA we working with pronouns, the consonant /f/, author's purpose, and animal fantasy stories. In Math we are working with number lines and adding lengths. In Health we are learning about the importance of listening. In Science we are learning about what things are made of and about what is on the surface of the Earth. In Social Studies we are learning about the government and citizenship.
