Thank you all for coming in and signing the LP calendars this week. I can't believe the end of the school year is almost here! I have a few reminders for you this week. We are having an end of the year class party tomorrow, Thursday, May 29th from 1:15- 1:55. Please contact Michelle at MCCAYMORAN@ ATT.NET if you would like to come help or send in snacks for the party. Our last class field trip will be this coming Monday, June 2nd. We will be going to the Kelly's Grow Dome. We will be leaving school as close to 8:30 am as possible and returning at 1:30. Please be sure to get your child to school by 8:30 am so that we can all leave for the field trip together and on time. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working with prefixes (mis-, mid-, non-), drawing conclusions and using prior knowledge when reading, compound words, and realistic fiction. In Math we are reviewing all of the 2nd grade CCSS for the year. In Science we are learning about endangered animals. In Social Studies we are working with maps. We continue to work on our handwriting with our Handwriting Without Tears workbooks.

Writing Prompt
In Uncle Peter’s Amazing Chinese Wedding, a young girl feels neglected when her favorite uncle gets married. Think about other big changes that happen in families. Now write a realistic story about a family member experiencing a big change. Please use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
CCCSS Writing 3- Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.
*Please keep your student at home if they are not feeling well. We are being extra careful at school about keeping our desks clean and washing our hands often. Hopefully we can all stay as healthy as possible throughout this upcoming flu season.
I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. Thank you all for your cooperation in these matters.
Have a great week!
Miss Jenny
