Field trip permission slips went home 2 weeks ago with the weekly IS. Please sign and return them with the $5 ASAP. Thank you to our drivers/volunteers for that day- Molly, Victoria, Emily, Jill, Matt, Kat, and Laura. We will be sharing Kat and Molly with the 4th grade class. Thank you!
Please be sure that your child comes to school dressed to play in the snow, we go outside in ALL weather except for heavy rain. Kids should have boots, snow pants, a coat or jacket, a hat, and gloves. Sunglasses can also be a good idea if the sun is out. Students are welcome to bring in a pair of slippers to keep in their cubbies to wear while in the classroom. Also, please continue to send in a water bottle. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working on facts vs opinions and possessive nouns. In Math we are learning how to compare lengths. In Science, we are learning about observing the weather. In Social Studies we are learning about Federal Laws. In Health we are learning more about the role of a school nurse. We are also working on our Design a Valentine's Day Party projects and Science journals. Our SEL activities include Life Ingredients, daily class check ins led by a different student each day, and win/lose vs. win/win scenarios.

Writing Assignment
This week we read Akiak, a story about a brave dog who goes on an adventure when she is separated from her team while racing in the Iditarod. Write your own adventure story featuring an animal as your main character. Be sure to include a beginning, middle, and end to your story. Please write at least 7 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please do not do online iReady lessons this week as we are taking our midyear assessments. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
