Hello Creekside Families,
I have a couple of reminders for you as we head to our next holiday break. Thursday the 17th will be a minimum day. School will be let out at 12:15 that day. Also, Monday, January 4th is an Independent Study day. There will be NO classes at school that day. However, RAP will be offering an all day program at Rideout. RAP Program has offered an all day program at Rideout (740 Timberland Ln/Tahoe City) from 8:00am-5:30pm on January 4th. The program will include crafts, cooking, games, outside adventures and snack. Parents should send children with a lunch, warm clothes to play outside in, and a water bottle. Cost $35/Residents, $40/Non-Residents. (530) 583-3440 Please call RAP in advance but drop ins are welcome. This week in ELA we are studying text features, capitalization, and narratives (diary entries). In Math we are comparing 3-digit numbers and working with place value. In Science we are learning about forests. In Social Studies we are learning about the changes Native Americans experience when Europeans immigrated to the United States. In Health we are learning about helmet safety. We are continuing our cross-curricular study of The Nutcracker. Spelling List (Spell words in the -oat, -ong, and -all families.) Narrative Writing has a beginning that introduces the characters and setting, a middle that shows how the characters think, feel and act, and an end that finishes the story and makes sense. Please have you child write a diary entry about a day out in the snow. A diary entry should have a date at the top of the page with the body of the text below. It should be at least 5 sentences in their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you! iReady Practice Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you! In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much! Have a great week! Miss Jenny |
