Now that fall is finally here, please remember to check the weather forecast daily and perhaps send in a coat every day, just in case! Also, just a gentle reminder as Halloween approaches, those little snack size candies are awfully tempting to send to school in a lunch box! Please try to refrain from sending candy to school, even if the sugar doesn't affect your child, their friends go wild with envy! One last reminder, please send in a water bottle for your child to have in class. Thanks!
Next Wednesday (Oct. 30th), we will be making Stone Soup in class! If you can, please send in an item for our pot by next Tuesday afternoon. Ex- a potato, a can of veggie or chicken broth, an onion, a can of corn, some celery, peas, beans, carrots, etc…Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working on sequencing events, making connections to the text, and quotation marks. In Math we are working on word problems. In Science we are learning about food chains and food webs. In Social Studies we are learning about changes in America. In Health we are working on investigating foods. Our SEL activities include working on "I can statements" to help us express our feelings to our peers in a time of conflict and daily check ins.

Writing Assignment
This week’s writing prompt is: “write a scary Halloween story.” Your story should have a beginning, middle, and end. You can also use transition words (ex- first, next, then, last, etc…). Please have your child write 4-5 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
