It's that time of year again, some of our friends at school have been getting sick! :( If your child throws up or has a fever, they must be free of those symptoms for 24 hours before they can return to school. Please help us keep the germs from spreading! Thank you!
We will taking school pictures during the first week of October, I will send you the schedule as soon as I get it. Picture order forms are being sent home today. Please return them as soon as possible. Thanks!
2nd grade is taking our first iReady diagnostic tests for ELA and Math this Monday-Wednesday (9/19-9/21) from 10:30- 12. Please try to ensure that your child gets a good night of sleep and a healthy breakfast each day to help them focus and do their best. If you are out of town this week, there will be an opportunity for your child to make up the tests when they return. Please do not sign into iReady until after the students have finished testing at school. I will let you know when they are good to go. Thank you.
This Thursday, 9/22 at 8:30 is our annual Creekside "Walk for your Heart" Walk-A-Thon fundraiser event at school. Please help our school raise more funds for technology by gathering pledges. Pledge forms on the back of the Walk-A-Thon flyers were sent home over the last two weeks. There is a form on the class website that you can print should you need an additional pledge form. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are describing connections between scientific ideas, making predictions, learning to dive diving deep into a text, and writing complete sentences. In Math we are working with even and odd numbers. In Science we are learning about science safety. In Social Studies we are learning how to be good citizens. In Health we are learning about how being active is good for us. Our Rooted in Reading book is Edward the Emu by Sheena Knowles. We will work on grammar, story elements, and art with this book. How fun! :)

Writing Assignment
This week’s writing prompt is: “Imagine you came home and there was an alligator in your bathtub! What would you do?” Your story should have a beginning, middle, and end. Please have your child write 3-5 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much!
Have a great week!
