I have several important reminders for you this week:
1) Please be sure to see me this week to sign our last Learning Records. Thank you to those who were able to make it to the meeting this morning.
2) The talent show will be this coming Tuesday, June 7th at 10:30 am. We will be in the quad area between the buildings on the Creekside campus. Please be sure to wear sunscreen and hats as we will be in full sun and temperatures are expected to be in the 80s.
3) Please join us for the Parent Volunteer Appreciation Tea at 12:15 that will be held after the talent show. We will meet at the tables behind the Kindergarten classroom. This event is for parents only, the kids will be eating their lunches and playing elsewhere.
4) The kids have earned a special treat for good behavior. This Thursday, 6/9, the kids can dress in the style of their favorite decade. We will also be building forts to read in so please send in a sheet or blanket with your child as building material.
5) Our class will be celebrating the end of the year with a Luau next Wednesday, June 15th. Kids are welcome to dress in a Hawaiian style and bring in a healthy snack to share with the class. We will be celebrating with the 3rd grade class.
6) The last day of classes, June 16th, will be a half day. School will get out at 12:15. We will also have our school carnival that morning so again, please put sunscreen on your child as we will be outside. Please send a large bag to school so your child can empty out his/her desk and bring their things home.
7) The PTO End of the Year Party will be on Friday, June 17th from 11:30- 1:30. Please see the weekly chat for more information.
8) Some kids have not finished with their iReady tests yet. Please have them finish their tests at home this week. Please be sure that your child takes plenty of time to answer each question or the system will prompt me to reset and retest them. Thank you.
This week in ELA we are learning about prefixes and suffixes, informational text, poetry, grammar, and phonics. In Math we are reviewing all 2nd grade Math standards. In Social Studies we are continuing to work on our Town Builder unit. In Science we are continuing to learn about Energy.

Writing Prompt
Cowboys describes a cowboy’s job. Think about a job that you do at home or at school. Now write about how you do that job. Please write 6-8 sentences with your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you!
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Thanks so much!
Have a great week!
Miss Jenny
