There will be a bake sale tomorrow before and after school. In the morning we will be selling healthy treats, and after school we'll have a mixture of healthy and normal bake sale items. We'll also collect donations for Mr. Stan. Mr. Stan's dog passed away this past week. He is swimming in vet bills, and our faculty decided we'd all do some baking and help him make a dent towards those unexpected bills. I'm sure he'd appreciate any support you'd like to send his way. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working on time order, verb tenses, adjectives, adverbs, and retelling a story. In Math we are working on 3-digit addition and subtraction problems. In Science we are learning about Matter. In Social Studies we are learning about Life, Long Ago. In Health we are talking about self-management skills. We have wrapped up our wonderful unit on Mozart's opera, The Magic Flute and are still working on our Monet's Water Lilies projects. We have released our ladybugs and butterflies but continue to watch our tadpoles, many are now froglets with 2 or 4 legs! Our Rooted in Reading book this week is The 3 Little Javalinas. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long.

Writing Assignment
This week we are reading The Three Little Javalinas, a twist on the classic story of The Three Little Pigs. Write and illustrate your own version of The Three Little Javalinas/ The Three Little Pigs. You may use any animals you’d like in your version of the story. You need to be sure to include a beginning, middle, and an end to your story. Please be sure to use your best handwriting on lined paper and to color your illustrations carefully. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Your student is welcome to bring slippers to keep in their cubby for when they come in from recess with damp shoes. Please be sure that your child brings a coat or jacket every day now that the snow is here. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
