I have lots of news for you this week! Please look in your child's homework packet for a field trip permission slip to go to the Kelly's Grow Dome on Monday June 2nd. We will be leaving school as close to 8:30 am as possible and returning at 1:30. Please see the form for what your child needs to bring and send back the signed form ASAP. We also need drivers/chaperones to drive and spend the day with us. Please contact me if you can help us out. Our LP 9 and LP 10 conference will be next Tuesday, May 27th at 8:15 am in the second grade classroom. These meetings are mandatory so if you cannot make the meeting, please email me a time when you can meet to sign the LP calendars and catch up on missed information. Also, Michelle Mc Cay- Moran is organizing an end of the year class party for Thursday, May 29th from 1:15- 1:55. Please contact Michelle at MCCAYMORAN@ ATT.NET if you would like to come help or send in snacks for the party. Thanks!
This week in ELA we are working with suffixes (-ness, -less, - able, -ible), commas in compound sentences, cause and effect, and narrative nonfiction. In Math we are beginning our year end review of all of the CCSS for Math. In Science we are learning about Endangered Species and in Social Studies we are working with maps and reading charts for information. Writing Prompt
This week we are reading Cowboys, which describes a cowboy’s job. Think about a job that you do at home or at school. Now write about how you do that job. Please use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
CCSS Writing 2- Write informative.explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section.
*Please keep your student at home if they are not feeling well. We are being extra careful at school about keeping our desks clean and washing our hands often. Hopefully we can all stay as healthy as possible throughout this upcoming flu season.
I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. Thank you all for your cooperation in these matters.
Have a great week!
Miss Jenny
