Today the kids had an opportunity to paint their bowls for the Souper Bowl event. Please send in your $ and forms for the bowls if you haven't done so already. You can also pay online on the Creekside PTO website. Kids who were absent will get another chance to paint their bowls, likely sometime next week.
This week in ELA we are beginning our writing unit on writing informational paragraphs, learning about illustrations, and working with comparison verbs. In Math we are learning to tell and write time. In Science we are learning about forces. In Social Studies we are learning about consequences. In Health we are talking about change. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Me...Jane. This book is about Jane Goodall as a child. In addition to learning about Dr. Goodall, we will also be learning about chimpanzees. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long.

Writing Assignment
This week we are learning about Jane Goodall, a scientist that has dedicated her life to studying and saving chimpanzees. Write about an endangered animal of your choice and tell me why they are endangered and how we can help save them. Don’t forget to tell me why you chose that particular animal. Write at least 6 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Your student is welcome to bring slippers to keep in their cubby for when they come in from recess with damp shoes. Please be sure that your child brings a coat or jacket every day now that the snow is here. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
Jenny
