We have just about finished up our mid-year iReady testing. Your child may begin doing their iReady lessons online again if they have finished their tests....they'll be able to tell you if they have finished testing. Next Monday, the 13th, the school nurse will be here for vision testing (all classes participate). Now for the exciting news!!! Weather allowing, we will have a visit from the BEAR League this Wednesday at 10:30am. We will get a chance to meet Maude the porcupine! How cool is that? :)
This week in ELA we are connecting words and pictures in texts, analyzing how characters respond to major events and challenges, and working on subject/verb agreement. In Math we are adding and subtracting lengths. In Science we are learning about Matter and how it changes. In Social Studies we are learning about Federal Law. In Health we are learning about Diseases. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Each Kindness. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long.

Writing Assignment
The writing prompt this week is: “I was sledding down a giant hill when…” Be sure your story has a beginning, middle, and ending. Please write at least 6 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Your student is welcome to bring slippers to keep in their cubby for when they come in from recess with damp shoes. Please be sure that your child brings a coat or jacket every day now that the snow is here. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
Jenny
