We have a busy and fun week ahead of us! Our class Valentine's Day party will be tomorrow from 11:45-12:15, this is before lunch so that the kids leaving for ski team in the afternoon won't miss out. Your child is welcome to bring a healthy snack to share and Valentine's cards if they are so inclined. If they chose to bring a card, please remember that candy is not allowed at school and that they should bring a card for each classmate so that no one is left out. I will include a class list below. On Wednesday, we will have a visit from the Bear League and meet Maude, the porcupine! On Thursday we have an all school assembly featuring musicians from the Reno Orchestra. Please remember that there will be NO SCHOOL NEXT WEEK as we are out for Ski/Skate week. School will resume on Monday, January 27th. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working on comparing and contrasting stories, point of view, and abbreviations. In Math we are working on reading and making line plots. In Science we are learning about Energy. In Social Studies we are learning about State Laws. In Health we are talking about Medicine. Our Rooted in reading book this week is Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long.

iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Your student is welcome to bring slippers to keep in their cubby for when they come in from recess with damp shoes. Please be sure that your child brings a coat or jacket every day now that the snow is here. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
