We will be having our class Valentine's Day party this coming Wednesday the 12th in the afternoon. Kids are welcome to bring in Valentine's Day cards for their friends but we do ask that if they bring in cards, they bring one for every student. With Zephyr out of town, we have 15 kids in class that would receive cards. Please try to keep candy at a minimum. Also, it's easiest for the kids to just sign their name to the cards and drop them in each friend's "mail bag", rather than addressing each card to a specific student. However, whatever your child prefers to do would be fine. The most important thing is for the kids to feel loved and have a great time! :) Also, Victoria has sent out a google form for people to sign up to send in heathy-ish snacks for our party. If you'd like to send in something for the class to share, that would be great! Thank you :)
This week the 2nd grade class will be celebrating a week of Random Acts of Kindness on campus and I hope that you will consider continuing that with your child at home and in our community. I am attaching a link to the Random Acts of Kindness website https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/. I hope you will find it both informational and inspiring. I am always so proud of this group of kids. Not only are they growing academically but their social emotional growth is also amazing. I love the way they care about school AND take care of one another! :)
Please be sure that your child comes to school dressed to play in the snow, we go outside in ALL weather except for heavy rain. Kids should have boots, snow pants, a coat or jacket, a hat, and gloves. Sunglasses can also be a good idea if the sun is out. Students are welcome to bring in a pair of slippers to keep in their cubbies to wear while in the classroom. Also, please continue to send in a water bottle. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working on point of view and abbreviations. In Math we are learning how to read and make line plots. In Science, we are learning about changes in the weather. In Social Studies we are learning how laws can change over time. In Health we are learning about diseases. We are also working on our Design a Valentine's Day Party projects and Science journals. Our SEL activities include Life Ingredients, daily class check ins led by a different student each day, and win/lose vs. win/win scenarios.

In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
