Thank you to all of our drivers/chaperones for joining us on our field trip to the Humane Society last week! We had a great turn out and lots of fun! I am happy to report that Opal, the older dog we got to pet, was adopted!!! A home for the holidays, how cool is that? :)
The snow is here at last! Please be sure that your child comes to school dressed to play in the snow, we go outside in ALL weather except for heavy rain. Kids should have boots, snow pants, a coat or jacket, a hat, and gloves. Sunglasses can also be a good idea if the sun is out. Students are welcome to bring in a pair of slippers to keep in their cubbies to wear while in the classroom. Also, please continue to send in a water bottle. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working on rhythm and meaning in poems and songs, cause and effect, and verb tenses. In Math we are working on adding several 2-digit numbers. In Science we are learning about Earth's water. In Social Studies we are learning about landforms. In Health we are talking about protective headgear. Our SEL activities include working on "I can statements", "win-win", and "win-lose"cards to help us express our feelings to our peers in a time of conflict and daily check ins. We are working on our Nutcracker unit and working on our Design a Ski Resort projects. The kids are loving it!

Writing Assignment
Use your imagination and sense of humor! The writing prompt this week is: Write about the time it snowed chocolate chips and sprinkles. Your story needs a beginning, middle, and end and you should use sequencing words (first, next, then, after that, last, etc….). Please write at least 6 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
