Let me begin this memo with a reminder that the class will be going on a field trip this Thursday. We will loading up in the cars at 9 and leaving campus by 9:15. Please be sure that your student arrives to school by 8:30 so we can be sure no one gets left behind. I also want to remind you all to send a water bottle to school with your student. I'd say at least half of the class does NOT have a water bottle at school. Please send those in ASAP.
This week in ELA we are reading Dear Juno, a story about a boy and his grandmother exchanging friendly letters. We are working with long-o (o, ao, ow) words in Phonics, and with asking questions and drawing conclusions in Comprehension. We will also be looking at abbreviations. In Math we are working with measurement and geometry. In Social Studies we are discussing holiday traditions at home. In Science we are learning about Winter.

Writing Prompt
The overall theme for Unit 3 is “What does it mean to be creative?”. This week’s question is “In what creative ways do we communicate?”. In this week’s story Dear Juno, a boy and his grandmother exchange friendly letters. Please help your child write a friendly letter to me, a family member, or a friend. The letter should be 4-6 sentences long and written in their best handwriting. Any kind of lined paper will be fine for this assignment. Thank you!
I'll end this message with a reminder to read the Snippet every Monday morning for important weekly information. There is also a reminder in it about our winter weather clothing requirements in order for students to be allowed to play in the snow.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
Miss Jenny
