This week in ELA we are learning about sound and meaning in stories, time order transition words, and friendly letters. In Math we are working on subtraction with 3-digit numbers. We also have a fun Math game using dreidels. In Science we are learning how living things grow. In Social Studies we are learning about North America. In Health we are learning about protective headgear. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is How to Catch Santa . We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this story all week long. We are also continuing to work on our interdisciplinary study on The Nutcracker. We are reading a variety of Nutcracker books to compare and contrast with one another, watching the ballet, creating a quadrilateral Nutcracker, and working on some Nutcracker art.

Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Your student is welcome to bring slippers to keep in their cubby for when they come in from recess with damp shoes. Please be sure that your child brings a coat or jacket every day now that the snow is here. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks so much!
Have a great week!
