The Creekside Pet calendars are here and super cute! If you'd like to purchase one, they are $15. We ordered 50 for the school but may order more if the demand is high. It seems like the winter weather has finally arrived. Please remember that all students should have boots, snow pants, gloves, and a coat for recess. We go outside for recess in ALL weather conditions except for soaking rain. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are learning how to find the lesson in a story, describing how authors use reasons to support their ideas, and learning about pronouns (a word that takes the place of a noun). In Math we are learning how to estimate length. In Science we are learning how we use the Earth's resources. In Social Studies we are learning about rules and responsibilities. In Health we are learning about fire emergencies. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Alexander, Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are also working on our 3rd Project Based Learning Activity entitled Valentine's Day Party Planner.

Writing Assignment
The writing prompt this week is: “What are some of the animals that you might see during the winter that you wouldn’t see any other part of the year?” If you’re not sure that you’ve seen any animals in the winter, make up a story in which you see your favorite north pole animals (like arctic wolves and polar bears) walking through your backyard! Please write at least 6 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you.
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
