Today was a very chilly picture day but we got it done! If your child was absent today, makeup pictures will be this Wednesday. Next Monday, October 10th is our field trip to the Humane Society in Truckee. Thank you to our drivers/chaperones: Vasily Karnickis, Camy Cowee, Sky Rondenet, Jill Meyer, Holly Colpitts, and Alexa Calandra. We will be leaving campus at 10 and returning about 12. Drivers/Chaperones...please be sure that Lynn in the office has all of your information (cdl, insurance, code of conduct, and livescan) by this Friday so that you can drive for us next week. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are learning how to ask and answer questions about a story, find the problem and solution in a text, and working with strong verbs. In Math we are working with 2 step word problems. (There are some math videos on the class website for review if you need them.) In Science we are learning about water. In Social Studies we are learning about history and time. In Health we are learning about tasty sensations. Our Rooted in Reading text this week is Stellaluna. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this story as well as learning a bit about Bats!

Writing Assignment
This week’s writing prompt is: “What would life be like if you could fly? Tell me about it… How would it feel? Where would you go? etc…”. Please have your child write 3-5 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Your student is welcome to bring slippers to keep in their cubby for when they come in from recess with damp shoes. Please be sure that your child brings a coat or jacket every day now that Fall is here. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain. Thanks so much!
Have a great week!
Jenny
