Please remember that school will be let out at 12:15 all week. Students should be picked up at that time. Students do not need to attend the conference but are welcome to join us. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are learning to describe how characters act, working with quotation marks, and learning about shades of meaning between similar words. In Math we are working with word problems with double digit addition or subtraction. In Science we are learning about the Sun. In Social Studies we are learning about Native Americans. In Health we continue to learn about healthy food choices. Our Rooted in Reading text this week is Crankenstein by Samantha Berger. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this story all week long.

Writing Assignment
This week’s writing prompt is: “write a scary Halloween story.” Your story should have a beginning, middle, and end. You can also use transition words (ex- first, next, then, last, etc…). Please have your child write 4-5 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, I'd also like to remind you that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Your student is welcome to bring slippers to keep in their cubby for when they come in from recess with damp shoes. Please be sure that your child brings a coat or jacket every day now that Fall is here. We go outside for every recess unless there is heavy rain. Thanks so much!
Have a great week!
Jenny
