Thank you to those who have already come in to meet with me for Fall Conferences! I look forward to getting a chance to speak with all of you soon. It's always fun to get a chance to share your children's amazing work and progress with you. Just a reminder that students should still bring a snack to school each day and that all students should be picked up by 12:15 this week. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are learning to describe how characters act, working with quotations, and learning about shades of meaning and synonyms. In Math we are working on word problems. In Science we are learning about food chains and food webs. In Social Studies we are learning about changes in America. In Health we are investigating foods. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Crankenstein. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are continuing to work on our PBL (project based learning) entitled Bats Around the World which is an project that hits multiple standards for English, Science, Social Studies, Art, and STEM.

Writing Assignment
This week’s writing prompt is: “write a Halloween story.” Your story should have a beginning, middle, and end. You can also use transition words (ex- first, next, then, last, etc…). Please have your child write 4-5 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
