Hello Creekside Families,
Just a reminder that next week is our conference week. Students should be picked up from campus by 12:15 all week long. If you haven't already done so, you can sign up for a conference time on ParentSquare. Our conferences will take about 10-15 minutes. They are pretty informal, we will go over the iReady assessment and chat about how your child is doing at school both academically and socially. It's also a chance for me to show you some of your child's amazing work which is always fun. :) We also still need a couple more drivers/chaperones for our field trip on November 8th from 9:15-12. Please email me if you can help us out that day. Thank you!
Yay!!! The kids have earned a special PJ and stuffed animal day this Wednesday! Students are welcome to wear their PJs to school (They must still bring shoes and a coat for recess.) and bring a small stuffed animal to school.
This week in ELA we are learning about fiction vs. non-fiction, how to locate facts, and types of sentences. In Math we are working with 2-digit subtraction. In Science we are learning about places to live. In Social Studies we are learning about changes for Native Americans. In Health we are learning how to choose healthy foods. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Spiders. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are continuing to work on our PBL (project based learning) entitled Bats Around the World which is an project that hits multiple standards for English, Science, Social Studies, Art, and STEM.

Writing Assignment
This week’s writing prompt is: “research an insect of your choice and write at least 5 facts about what you have learned.” Please have your child write 4-5 sentences and use their best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
Jenny
