It is snowing at last! What fun! I hope it continues as we sure need it. Please be sure to send your kids to school dressed for the weather. Kids that do not have ski pants or boots on end up being restricted to playing on the boardwalk. Kids without coats spend lunch recess reading or drawing in the office which is nowhere as fun as playing outside with their pals. Also, please be sure to send in a water bottle every day. Thanks!
Along with the homework packet for the week, a field trip form went home today. The form needs to be signed and sent in with your field trip donation as soon as possible. I need to have all forms and $ into the office by Wednesday afternoon. Please let me know if you need help with funding. The field trip will be on Thursday, Feb. 26th to North Tahoe High School. We will leave campus at 9 and return around 11:30. We will be seeing the Versa Dance Company perform. We will need parents to drive, please email me if you are able to help us out. Thank you!
This week we are celebrating the Random Acts of Kindness week. Our class will be spreading kindness, joy, and small gifts across the campus and encouraging their peers to do the same. Our group class kindness project is to bring in donations for the Humane Society of Truckee- Tahoe. We will be collecting items in our classroom all week. The shelter needs cat food, dog food, treats, toys, used towels, kitty litter, etc... If you would like to donate any of these items, please send them in with your student. The whole school will be joining us in this endeavor on Thursday as part of the school Spirit Day. Any and all donations help, thank you!
This week in ELA we are working with adjectives that compare, words containing the diphthongs -ou and -ow, and writing descriptive paragraphs. In Math we are working with time and graphs. In Health we are learning about diseases. In Science we are learning about how materials are used for different purposes as well as learning about animals. In Social Studies we are learning about how Native American lives were changed as our country was settled.
