Just a reminder that all students should come to school prepared for the ever changing spring weather. Sending in a coat this week might be a good idea if we get the rain/snow they are forecasting! If your student needs sunscreen, please apply that at home before coming to school. Also, please be sure to send in a water bottle with your student! Thank you!
Tomorrow we will have our last Harvest of the Month tasting. The kids will be tasting green beans. We also will have a special visitor to our classroom on Wednesday afternoon. Ann from the Bear League will be here to teach the kids about how to help our local bears AND she will be bringing Maude, the porcupine! The kids are going to love it!
If you haven't done so already, please be sure to send in the 2 field trip permission slips that went home the week before last. They should be filled out and returned with the $ ASAP. I must have all permission slips and funds turned into the office by this tomorrow morning at the latest! There is no charge for the Humane Society trip but there is a $6 fee per person for the farm trip. (They charge $6 for each student and chaperone/driver.) Also, we now have enough drivers/chaperones to make these trips happen! Thank you!.
This week in ELA we working on verb tenses, adjectives, adverbs, and finding the problem and solution is a story. In Math we are reviewing money and word problems with money. In Science we are learning about forces. In Social Studies we are learning about inventors. Our Health lesson is entitled Oh! What is the matter with me-2? Our Rooted in Reading book this week is The Three Little Javalinas. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are also working on our Town Builder Social Studies activities, our cross-curricular unit on Mozart's opera (The Magic Flute), and a study of Monet's Water Lilies. We are observing our class butterflies and ladybugs and documenting our observations. We also just planted Kentucky Runner Beans to start a brief plant unit. Our SEL activities this week center around the concept self-awareness.

Writing Assignment
This week we are reading The Three Little Javalinas, a twist on the classic story of The Three Little Pigs. Write and illustrate your own version of The Three Little Javalinas/The Three Little Pigs. You may use any animals you’d like in your version of the story. You need to be sure to include a beginning, middle, and an end to your story. Please write at least 7 sentences and be sure to use your best handwriting on lined paper. Remember to color your illustrations carefully. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
