How fun to have snow on campus again! I hope you all had a great weekend playing in the snow, we even got a little snow (mostly hail) in Grass Valley! Just a reminder that all students should arrive at school dressed to spend recess in the snow. Jeff would like all students to have snow pants, jackets, gloves, hats, sunglasses, and gloves. We go outside in ALL weather conditions except for very wet snow or heavy rain. Thank you!
Just a reminder that this Thursday, December 6th is our next Arts for the Schools field trip to Truckee High School to see the Ririe Dance Group. We will load up in the cars between 9:15-9:30 and be on the road by 9:30. We will return to campus before 12 and in plenty of time for pizza day. Please remind your student to be on their best behavior on the field trip as we are representing our school in the community. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are learning about sound and meaning in stories, time order transition words, and parts of a friendly letter. In Math we are working with 3-digit subtraction. In Science we are studying land. In Social Studies we are studying land use in California. In Health we are learning about protective head gear. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is How to Catch Santa. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are beginning to work on our PBL (project based learning) entitled Design a Ski Resort which is a project that hits multiple standards for English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, and STEM. We will also be working on our unit on The Nutcracker ballet.

Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
