I hope you all had a great weekend! I can't believe there are only 2 weeks until Winter Break, time sure flies! With the unsettled winter weather forecast for this week, please remember that winter gear is required at school for recess. We go outside in ALL weather except for heavy rain or very wet snow. Your students are welcome to bring slippers to school if they'd prefer not to wear their snow boots in class. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are learning about rhythm and meaning in poems and songs, cause and effect, and verb tenses. In Math we are adding several 2-digit numbers. In Science we are learning about Earth's water. In Social Studies we are learning about Earth's climate and landforms. In Health we are learning about safety gear. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is The Legend of the Poinsettia. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are continuing to work on our PBL (project based learning) entitled Design a Ski Resort which is an project that hits multiple standards for English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, and STEM. We will also continue working our unit on The Nutcracker ballet.

In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
