I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend! It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner already! Please note that next Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 19 & 20) are Independent Study days and we will not be meeting on campus. The rest of the week is off for local holidays and Thanksgiving. The IS for next Monday and Tuesday are already included in the Homework Packets sent home today.
Also, please note that there is a permission slip for Thursday, Dec. 6th attached to the homework packets, please sign them and send them in by the end of this week. We will also need drivers/chaperones for the field trip, please email me if you can help us out. Thank you!
Creekside is collecting canned goods and nonperishable items for Project Mana this week. If you'd like to participate, please send the items in with your student this week. Thanks!
Join us this Thursday (3-6pm) for our annual Fall Feast! The kids will be performing and we will all enjoy a potluck meal together. Please see Jeff's chat for more information.
This week in ELA we are working with adjectives, adverbs, and text features (glossary, index, table of contents). In Math we are comparing 3-digit numbers. In Science we are learning about hot and cold deserts. In Social Studies we are learning how to use maps. In Health we are learning to identify and correct hazards. Our Rooted in Reading book this week is Turk and Runt. We will be working on all sorts of reading, writing, grammar, and art activities around this book all week long. We are continuing to work on our PBL (project based learning) entitled Bats Around the World which is an project that hits multiple standards for English, Science, Social Studies, Art, and STEM.

Writing Assignment
This week we are reading Turk and Runt, a story about 2 brothers who are turkeys on a farm at Thanksgiving time. Write your own story about a turkey escape! Remember to have a beginning, middle, and ending to your story. Please write at least 5 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
Jenny
