I can't believe it is almost Winter Break! Time flies when you're having fun! Just a reminder that we will have our class holiday party on Wednesday afternoon. If you'd like, please send in a healthy-ish snack to share. Thursday afternoon will be our Holidays Around the World event. Each class has focused on a different country and the kids will have a chance to "tour" the other countries/classrooms. Our classroom will be learning about holidays in Germany as it ties in so nicely with our Nutcracker unit.
Please be sure that your child comes to school dressed to play in the snow, we go outside in ALL weather except for heavy rain. Kids should have boots, snow pants, a coat or jacket, a hat, and gloves. Sunglasses can also be a good idea if the sun is out. Students are welcome to bring in a pair of slippers to keep in their cubbies to wear while in the classroom. Also, please continue to send in a water bottle. Thank you!
This week in ELA we are working on part of a story, identifying the main idea in a text, and contractions. In Math we are learning about different measurement tools. In Science we are learning about changes on Earth. In Social Studies we are learning about patriots. In Health we are learning about ways to stay safe while playing. Our SEL activities include working on "I can statements", "win-win", and "win-lose"cards to help us express our feelings to our peers in a time of conflict and daily check ins.

Writing Assignment
December 21st is the first day of winter. What is your favorite winter activity that involves snow and why? Please write at least 6 sentences and use your best handwriting on lined paper. Thank you.
iReady Practice
Please login to i Ready. You should see a red button labeled, “start my lessons”. Please complete one Math and one Language Arts lesson. Thank you!
In closing, please remember that students should be appropriately dressed for the weather and that ALL students need to have a water bottle to keep at school as we do not have cups to offer them should they be thirsty. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school. Just a refresher on our illness policy: If your child is sick, he or she must be fever free and free of vomiting for 24 hours before they may return to school. Thanks!
Have a great week!
